BARRIE, Ont. — Nauman Nusrat, one of the alleged street racers involved in causing a wreck that claimed the life of heroic truck driver David Virgoe, has been sentenced to two years’ house arrest.

Nusrat was also handed a lifetime ban from driving. He is one of three suspects charged in relation to the accident that occurred on Hwy. 400 north of Toronto last June. Virgoe, just 48 at the time, has received praise for his selfless act of steering his truck into the ditch and away from oncoming traffic. He was killed instantly.

Nusrat and two other suspects were seen driving erratically at high speeds. Preliminary hearings for the two other individuals charged in the case are to begin this month.
