Humber College hosting SmartDriver session

TORONTO — Humber College’s Transportation Training Centre and FleetSmart will host a SmartDriver for Highway Trucking train-the-trainer session in Toronto.

The one-day session will be held Jan. 6, 2010 and is designed for driver trainers and fleet managers, and focuses on energy efficiency as a cost-effective and responsible way to reduce costs and the environmental impact of fleet operations.

The training session provides information on energy efficiency in all aspects of a fleet’s operations including: determining equipment specifications, maintenance, operations and driving.

After completing this train-the-trainer session, participants will be in a position to deliver this training directly to drivers within their own company or in other organizations in the highway trucking sector as a means of incorporating energy efficiency into driving practices and vehicle operation techniques.

Natural Resources Canada will support subsequent training activities to participants of these train-the-trainer sessions by supplying all essential training materials as required.

Course tuition is $85 including lunch and space is limited to 25 participants.
