OTTAWA, Ont. — In February, unfilled orders for heavy duty trucks stood at $1.4 billion, the highest level since September 2000 and more than double the level of unfilled orders posted just two years ago, Statistics Canada reports.

Unfilled orders are a stock of orders that will contribute to future shipments assuming that the orders are not cancelled.

Last year, Canada set a sales record for Class 8 truck sales with 35,281 truck sold, easily outpacing the 30,984 mark set back in 1999.
