International Truck and Engine
Aiming at road maintenance crews, refuse, and construction truck markets, International Truck and Engine has launched the new 7600 4×2 and 6×4 models, at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville.

The new models, which combine features of the 7000 series with big bore power, include a set forward and backward axle settings and up to a 50-degree wheel cut and Sheppard M-100/M-80 dual power steering gears on 16,000 pounds and above front axles. With the power of up to 430 horsepower from Cat C-10 and C-12 engines, International says the new models make tough jobs in severe service applications easier. The truck offers a wide-range of transmissions, including Eaton Fuller manuals and Allison HD automatics.

The 7600 is said to have superior maneuverability and ground clearance visibility, shares the cab, chassis and 107 inches bumper-to-back-of-the-cab with the rest of the 7000 Series.
The company says rugged, off-highway conditions are made easier to handle with a standard larger cooling system mounted above the frame rail for front PTO clearance.

International says troubleshooting is also made much easier with 80% less mechanical switch use and 40% less wiring in the instrument panel.

Meanwhile, the truck maker also introduced a big brother to the High Performance Truck Family. The 8600 regional haul tractor includes standard big bore 10-12 litre engines, and other application designed components for day cab operators working in both short and long hauls.

The 8600 also delivers 107 inches bumper-to-back-of-the-cab, a 46-inch setback wide track front axle, as well as a 50-degree wheel cut. The company says a smoother ride is the effect of standard air ride cab suspension and lightweight parabolic taper leaf springs.

Optional cab features include: a 26-inch extended cab with a bunk that lifts up a full 75 degrees and provides nine cubic feet of storage space under the mattress and optional swing out side windows.

International is presently taking orders on both the 7600 and 8600, and full production is expected in August.
