Jim Park’s Truck Talk – Volume 1 Number 2

What would you say to the possibility of tripling the service life of your brakes? Or being able to stop in 20 to 30 percent shorter distance than you do now? Air disc brakes offer those benefits, and many more. They’re available now from most truck makers, and many trailer manufactures have added disc brakes to their data books too.

Even if the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration doesn’t effectively mandate their use by instituting a 30 percent reduction in tractor stopping distance requirements, and even if you remember what happened with air discs last the first time they were offered to Class 8 truck buyers, there are plenty of good reasons to take good look at the current generation of air disc brakes.
