KELOWNA, B.C. — Intelligent Vehicle Systems (IVS) has inked a deal with Independent Witness to market its witness-asset protection system technology in Canada.

IVS will be the exclusive distributor of the witness program in Canada and will have non-exclusive distribution rights in the U.S., Mexico and abroad. It’s a five-year agreement containing a provision for another five years afterwards.

The witness system can objectively measure the magnitude and direction of the forces experienced in collisions recording the exact time and date. It’s a compact unit that can be placed in a truck to record accident data. It also plugs into GPS units for tracking and immediate notification needs.

“Applications for the witness technology have the potential to save many lives as it can provide feedback to help make vehicle designs better in terms of improved safety for motorists,” says Eldon Heppner, chief executive officer for IVS. “Reducing fraudulent claims to insurance companies could have a significant impact on lowering insurance premiums.”
