J. J. Keller & Associates has introduced “Hazard Perception Challenge II,” its second interactive video program designed to enlist active participation in building safe driving skills.

The program teaches hazard perception through a series of brief scenarios, each followed by a “what-did-you-see/what-would-you-do” question. Drivers are given time to think about the scenarios and record their answers on test sheets. The scenarios cover various types of driving, including adverse weather, backing, passing, distracted driving, city driving, night driving, common vehicle manoeuvres, merging, and security.

The 60-minute video is broken into five segments of roughly 12 minutes each, so training can be presented in a single session or spread out over several. Along with the video, the program includes a trainer’s guide that provides practical tips, training techniques, presentation options, and an answer key that covers each scenario, and also includes 10 driver test sheets, 10 driver certificates, and 10 driver skill cards.
