Kenworth Air Ride Cuts Weight

Kenworth Truck’s AG380 lightweight air suspension can be spec’d on the company’s complete class-8 line of over-the-road tractors — up to 80,000 pounds GCW. The unit weighs about 650 pounds fully installed, or 200 to 400 pounds less than typical trailing arm suspensions (the AG380 is also lighter than most four-spring suspensions). To increase reliability, Kenworth designed the AG380 with about half the parts of other truck suspensions, and made it maintenance free with no lubrication points. The company adds that the suspension is the industry’s first use of 64-inch taperleaf and composite springs.
