Kenworth closes Vancouver Island dealership

NANAIMO, B.C. — Inland Kenworth has closed down its Port McNeill facility due to weak demand in the beleaguered forestry sector.

According to the Nanaimo Daily News, the Vancouver Island dealership and service center will be shuttered today, laying off six people.

Inland Kenworth, which has 13 locations across B.C., continues to operate the Campbell River and Nanaimo facilities on the island, which will take over the sales, service, and warranty duties of Port McNeill.

But even those locations are facing struggles, spokesman Dave Douglas told the paper, although there are no intentions to close them down.
