KIRKLAND, Wash. — Kenworth is allowing its image-conscious customers to spec’ a Donaldson premium SST stainless steel air cleaner on new rigs.

The Donaldson air cleaner, which weighs less than other premium air cleaners, features a twist and lock cover design for easy access and servicing, and the surface fastening bolts are hidden from view.

“The SST air cleaner is a premium product for those customers interested in dressing up their trucks,” says David Warren, Kenworth product marketing manager. “The new SST is available with our exclusive bright-finished air cleaner fairings for a very distinctive appearance on the W900 model. This product will also help improve operating efficiency through increased flow through the truck’s air intake system.”

Donaldson says its air cleaner improves air flow by 25 per cent and dust capturing by 5 per cent.

“The air cleaner removes more contaminants flowing through the air intake system, increases engine performance and fuel efficiency, and provides an additional level of truck engine protection from harmful contaminants,” says Donaldson’s director of engineering, Marty Barris. “Improved air flow restriction means better fuel economy and more horsepower available to pull the load.”
