Kriska Purchasing Transpro Freight Systems

PRESCOTT and MILTON, ON — Trucking company Kriska Transportation Group Ltd. announced Tuesday it signed a letter of intent to acquire the shares of fellow Ontario-based carrier Transpro Freight Systems Ltd., based in Milton.

Terms of the deal have not been released but it is expected to close by the end of this month.

Transpro will continue to be led by the current management team, including Eric Carusi, who will remain general manager.

“Transpro is a multiple award winning carrier, with a top tier safety record, strong management team, and consistent financial performance through economic cycles,” said Mark Seymour, president and CEO of Kriska. “In addition, they bring deep subject matter expertise in the field of freight brokerage, which will benefit all of our independent operating companies.”

Transpro currently operates 110 tractors and 300 trailers. Including this purchase, Kriska will operate a total fleet of 645 tractors, 1,950 trailers, and employ 900 people, including owner operators.

According to Joe Carusi and Frank Prosia, co-founders of Transpro, the next generation of leaders at Transpro will benefit from the economies of scale a large organization like Kriska can bring.

Founded in 2014, the Prescott- based Kriska Transportation Group owns a collection of independently operated asset-based companies, with a focus on cross border, truckload freight with core brands that include Kriska Holdings Ltd., Mill Creek Motor Freight LP and JMF Transport Ltée.
