CALGARY, Alta. — Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation has announced Don Wilson as the successful candidate in the recent competition for the position of Manager, Provincial Operations and Compliance in Driver Programs and Licensing Standards.

Located in the Calgary office, Wilson will have a critical role in managing the ongoing operations of the Calgary and Edmonton offices of the Driver Programs and Licensing Standards section.

This position ensures driving schools, driver training instructors and driver examiners comply with relevant policies, regulatory requirements, and standards associated with licensing programs and driver programs through leadership and supervision of staff members and a third party audit program.

Wilson will also continue to collaborate with the Special Investigations Unit of Service Alberta to initiate and complete sensitive investigations relating to the driver examination program.

This role also directly supports the Alberta Traffic Safety Plan’s mandate which is to provide a safe and efficient transportation system and improve safety of the motoring public through the reduction of collisions. This will be accomplished through the development and improvement of driver education and licensing programs.

Wilson began with the provincial government in 1978 and has an extensive transportation background, as well as experience in administering driver safety programs.
