Lousy roads contest rewards best of the worst

HOUSTON — Got a tale to tell about a particularly nasty stretch of highway? And do you like NASCAR racing?

The makers of Shell Rotella engine lubricants want to hear from professional drivers about the toughest roads they drive and how they are able to protect themselves and their cargo.

In 100 words or less.

The contest is open until Aug.31. Entering is a cinch and only takes about 10 minutes. Click here for more details.

Grand prize: A trip for two to Charlotte, N.C. this fall including airfare, hotel accommodation, hospitality-suite tickets, access to the garage and pit areas of the race; and other goodies.

The winner will also get a chance to meet the hauler drivers for the Richard Childress Racing teams and pose for team photos and be presented with an autographed driver jacket, and receive a year’s supply (20 cases) of Shell Rotella engine oil.

Entrants can also return to the web site throughout the contest to see the roads that have been entered during the sweepstakes.

The winner will be announced during the week of Sept. 19, 2010, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.

Shell’s also offering 44 other instant prizes, ranging from gift certificates to coffee mugs.

Shell is sponsoring separate “bad roads” contests in Canada and the U.S.
