BRACEBRIDGE, Ont. — Bracebridge OPP have been warning motorists parking at a local shopping centre to check their wheel lug nuts when returning to their vehicles.

There have been several recent reports of lug nuts being loosened on vehicles parked in the parking lot of Bracebridge Plaza II on Muskoka Rd. 118.

In two incidents, motorists have had their wheels come off, causing moderate damage to their vehicles but no injuries, after leaving the shopping centre parking lot. Another driver discovered that both her back wheels were about to come off when she pulled into a gas station after feeling her car start to ride roughly.

Police believe someone is going around the shopping centre parking lot during the day, loosening lug nuts. Anyone with information about the incidents is being asked to call Bracebridge OPP at 705 645-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-TIPS.
