Mack says UniMax Axle virtually eliminates maintenance
Mack Trucks
Mack Trucks has introduced a new heavy-duty front axle that significantly cuts maintenance requirements and increases payload capacities.
The UniMax axle, available in 18,000 and 20,000-pound capacities, is the first heavy-duty axle with unitized wheel hubs that virtually eliminate axle maintenance costs, according to the company. The wheel hubs are permanently sealed with synthetic long-lasting grease providing protection and superior lubrication to protect wheel seals and bearings from water, dirt and other contaminants that often compromise the components. The unitized hubs eliminate endplay adjustments to further reduce maintenance.
In addition to reducing maintenance, the new lightweight UniMax axle allows operators to optimize payload capacities with no sacrifice in axle durability. Additional features include new levels of control and stability while operating in the most severe job sites. This rigid control feature is the result of the new, tapered kingpin design that, again, requires no adjustments.
