Major Interstate shut down following terror alert

MIAMI, Fla. — A 20-mile stretch of I-75 running east-west through Florida has been shut down as authorities investigate a possible terrorist attack planned for Miami.

The stretch of highway known as Alligator Alley was shut down late last night after Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a car that may have been en route to Miami to carry out a terrorist attack. Bomb sniffing dogs were brought in and three suspects from two cars were detained.

The highway closure comes on the heels of a terror alert that was issued after a Georgia woman claimed to have heard several men conspiring to attack Miami on Sept. 13.

Alligator Alley is a well-travelled corridor running from Naples in the west to Fort Lauderdale in the east.
