Jim Park’s Truck Talk
Volume 1 Number 6

Mentioning the topic of mandated speed limiters in a room full of truckers is like tossing a hand grenade into a barrel of oatmeal. It’s going to provoke quite a reaction. While feelings on either side of the debate run strong in North America, our arguments — for and against — remain theoretical. We have yet to experience the real-world impact of speed-limiting only some vehicles in streams of faster moving traffic.

Phil Marwood has. He’s a veteran driver from the U.K. who worked on governed trucks for many years. He outlines his concerns about mandated speed limiters on this edition of Truck Talk.

In the interests of providing equal opportunity for input to this debate, we’ll look at the touted advantages of speed limiters on a future edition of Truck Talk.
