Manitoba dealer wins Kenworth ‘walk-around’ title

WINNIPEG — Jim Bednar, truck salesman for Custom Truck Sales in Winnipeg, recently captured the Canadian title in the Kenworth T660 Walk-Around Sales Competition.

During the competition, participants “walk around” the truck to discuss key features, advantages and benefits and are graded on their presentation.

Bednar won his district title and then took first place in the Canadian championships to earn a trip to the North American finals held at the recent Kenworth Dealer Meeting in Tucson, Arizona. Bednar also won the Canadian walk-around title last year when the competition focused on Kenworth’s T800 vocational model.

The competition focused on the new, highly efficient, aerodynamic Kenworth T660 model.

“Kenworth dealer salespeople work closely with customers to help them make informed purchase decisions and get the right Kenworth truck spec’d and built for their application,” said Gary Moore, Kenworth assistant general manager for marketing and sales. “The … competition provides Kenworth salespeople with an in-depth knowledge of the T660’s features, benefits and advantages.”

In addition to Bednar, other Kenworth district winners in Canada are Corey Prediger, GreatWest Kenworth, Calgary, Alb.; Rick Kader, Tandet Kenworth, Kingston, Ont.; John Sheridan, Toronto Kenworth, Sudbury, Ont.; and Pierre Trottier, Kenworth Montreal, Montreal, Que. The Canadian championship held in Quebec City, Que., was conducted in English and French with bilingual judges.
