WINNIPEG, (Feb. 10, 2005) — A dispatcher from Manitoba will have the chance to be honored for his profession after the Manitoba Trucking Association agreed to participate in the Cancom Tracking Dispatcher of the Year Award.

Cancom currently sponsors the award with the Atlantic, Saskatchewan, and Ontario trucking associations. The first MTA award will be presented at the Annual Management Conference in September.

The award is designed to provide recognition to a position within the transportation industry that is often over looked. The award honours dispatchers who make an impact lowering driver turnover by creating loyalty, and improve making sure pickups and deliveries are maximized efficiently. The dispatcher also contributes to business success by maintaining personal care of valuable customers.

“Our industry recognizes the important role dispatchers play in the lives of our drivers, the success of our companies and ensuring our customers’ needs are met,” said Bob Dolyniuk, General Manager of the Manitoba Trucking Association. “It is only fitting that we recognize their efforts and contributions.”

Mike Ham, vice-president of Cancom said the company’s intention is to present this award with each provincial association.
