Manitoba honours three elite professionals

WINNIPEG, Man. — The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) doled out three awards today honouring a Driver of the Month for October, November and December of 2005.

The Driver of the Month Awards recognize professional drivers who have exemplary safety records and who demonstrate outstanding customer service and dedication to the profession, says the association.

The three recipients together have contributed 71 years to the trucking industry, driving nearly 10 million kilometres, accident free.

Driver of the Month for October 2005 is Brian Adair. Adair has been a professional driver for 21 years, has accumulated over 1.5 million kilometres of driving experience and has been accident free the entire time. Adair currently drives for Arnold Bros. Transport and lives in Winnipeg.

Driver of the Month for November 2005 is Henry Wassing. The award winner has been a professional driver for 31 years, driving 4.8 million accident free kilometres during his career. Wassing drives for Canada Safeway and lives in Anola.

Driver of the Month for December 2005 is Philip Hiebert. Hiebert has logged 3.3 million kilometres in his 19 years as a professional driver, all accident free. Mr. December drives for Penner International and lives in Steinbach.

The MTA has awarded the Driver of the Month Award, sponsored by Custom Truck Sales and Canadian Kenworth, since 1991.
