Manpower predicts healthy hiring climate for transportation this spring

TORONTO, Ont. — Canadian employers are expecting a steady hiring climate for the April to June period according to the latest results of the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

Among the 10 surveyed sectors, employers in the transportation and public utilities sector predict a healthy outlook with a seasonally adjusted Net Employment Outlook of 22%. Hiring expectations increased by 5% from the previous quarter and an increase of 1% from last year at this time.

The survey of more than 1,700 Canadian employers revealed that 30% plan to increase their payrolls in the next three months while 5% anticipate cutbacks for a Net Employment Outlook of 25%. Of those polled, 63% expect no changes and 2% are unsure of their staffing intentions.
