BIG BOOTS TO FILL: Donnie Fillmore is following in his dad’s tire tread

CHARLOTTETOWN – Thirty-eight-year-old Donnie Fillmore is the new chairman of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA).

Fillmore accepted the reins of the organization from outgoing chair Jean St.-Onge at the APTA’s 63rd annual meeting on Prince Edward Island Wednesday.

Fillmore is president of Atlantic Pacific Transport Ltd., which was founded by his father Donnie Sr. in 1989 in Clairville, NB.

These days, Atlantic Pacific Transport  runs more than 40 trucks all over the continent, specializing in flatbeds and oversized loads.

The father of four entered the family business when he was 17.

He shares the management of the company with his brother Mark.

Meantime, his father, who remains an owner-operator with the company was also an active and vocal chairman of the APTA.
