TORONTO, Ont. — Markel Insurance Company of Canada will be featured in a forthcoming episode of the Discovery Channel series, I Could Do That. The reality show, which premiered in late March, offers participants the opportunity to operate a piece of heavy-duty machinery that they would otherwise never have a chance to work with.

In the truck-centred episode, a personal trainer from Halifax is challenged with the task of learning to drive a transport truck in a week – under the guidance of Markel trainer Rob Spencer – while surrounded by cameras and crew.

Markel’s Guelph, Ont.-based Safety and Training Services facility served as the shooting location, where the participants also used a Markel truck.

Described as “the most visible vehicle on the road today” by the Discovery Channel, the transport truck is featured among other pieces of heavy-duty machinery, such as a steel slab carrier, an M60 army tank and a locomotive diesel engine.

The episode is slated to air Wednesday, April 21 at 8:30 p.m. EST.
