WINNIPEG, Man. — The Manitoba Heavy Construction Association (MHCA) is appealing on the provincial and federal governments to show them the money.

The association claims the province’s deteriorating highways need $300 million worth of repairs in each of the next 10 years.

MHCA president, Chris Lorenc, says 70 per cent of the province’s highway system has exceeded its lifespan. If the problem is ignored, he tells local media exports will be affected.

He goes on to say that if Ottawa isn’t willing to help fund the road rehabilitation, then it shouldn’t be taxing fuel in the first place.
