GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin has announced a wider on-highway promotion of its X-One single truck tires beyond individual trucks stops to meet the demand of its fuel-saving product.

The Professional Transportation Partners (PTP), which include 180 member travel plazas, truck stops and shop facilities, were officially included in Michelin’s “wherever you go” partnership that went into effect Sept. 1, through a marketing agreement between Michelin and PTP, company officials stated.

“This agreement allows us to translate the success that we have built with individual truck stops to the entire PTP network across the continent,” said Guy Pekle, the vice-president of sales for Michelin Americas Truck Tires.

“PTP has developed a standard for service to the trucking community that we admire, and we are confident that this joint marketing agreement is going to benefit their member truck stops as well as our joint fleet customers.”

Michelin says it is offering innovative technology in the form of tires that save fuel, save weight, or that run longer than any other tires in the marketplace, according to Michael Gay, director of shop programs for PTP.

“We’ve received plenty of positive feedback from individual members about doing business with Michelin. We are pleased to expand the business opportunities to all of our members through this agreement,” Gay says.

The Sept.1 agreement between Michelin and PTP is expected to be effective at all 180 PTP shop locations by the end of 2008.
