GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin has introduced two new on/off-road tires for rigorous applications such as construction, oil field and logging.

The Michelin X Works XDY commercial truck tire is designed for traction and wear in on/off-road applications while Michelin’s new XDY-EX2 tire is the company’s most aggressive drive axle tire for extreme operating conditions such as logging, oil field and mining.

“For today’s construction and on/off-road fleets, it’s all about operational efficiency,” said Ted Becker, vice-president of marketing for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “Traction and overall tire protection are paramount to maintaining uptime. The Michelin X Works XDY and the XDY-EX2 tires feature maximum sidewall protection with aggressive tread designs that deliver exceptional traction and durability.”

Michelin claims its X Works XDY provides a 10% mileage improvement compared to its XDY 3 tire. The tire features an extra thick sidewall to protect against shocks, snags, impacts and other damage and it’s available in sizes: 11R22.5 and 11R24.5.

The XDY-EX2 improves on Michelin’s XDY-EX tire and provides better off-road and mud traction thanks to an aggressive tread design with more void area, the company reports. The tire is available in an 11R24.5 size.
