Michelin rolls onto SmartWay list

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Two additional truck tires from Michelin have been added to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay’s list of verified technologies for tires.

Based upon data provided by tire manufacturers and EPA testing and research, the Michelin X-ONE XDN2 drive tire and the Michelin X-ONE XTE trailer tire were put on the list.

EPA determined that certain tire models can provide a reduction in NOx emissions and an estimated fuel savings of three percent or greater, relative to the best selling new tires for line haul trucks, when used on all three axles.

Michelin X ONE XDN2 drive tire recently made
the grade at the U.S. EPA.

For each axle position, Michelin provides multiple tire options found on SmartWay’s verified technologies list of low rolling resistance tires, and in total Michelin offers 10 tires that meet SmartWay verification.

In addition to its tires being included on SmartWay’s verified technologies list, Michelin also received a SmartWay Excellence award in 2007 in recognition of the company’s efforts as a shipper of goods and materials relating to its manufacturing operations.
