VANCOUVER, B.C. — The provincial Ministry of Transportation is seeking candidates to serve on eight Regional Transportation Advisory Committees (RTACs) to be set up in B.C.

The RTACs are being formed to give regions more input into what their local transportation needs and priorities are.

They will advise the Minister of Transportation of their local priorities, participate in the minstry’s annual planning processes and help develop the provincial strategic transportation plan.

Each RTAC will consist of 15 members selected by the ministry, but applicants cannot be from the Greater Vancouver Area, where TransLink calls the shots. For more information or to see if you qualify to serve on an RTAC, visit the ministry’s Web site at www.th.gov.bc.ca/RTAC/rtac.htm.

The deadline to apply as chairman is Jan. 24 with the deadline for committee membership being Feb. 7.
