MTA honours Manitoba’s top drivers

WINNIPEG, Man. — The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) has presented its Driver of the Month awards for July, August and September of 2005.

Driver of the Month Awards recognize professional drivers who have exemplary safety records and who demonstrate outstanding customer service and dedication to the profession.

July’s winner was Keith MacIver, a driver with TransX who has accumulated 1,000,000 (1 million) km during his 15 years of driving experience, with no preventable accidents since 1993.

The recipient for August was Gerald Bergen, a driver with Arnold Bros. Transport who has driven 2,000,000 km in his 21 years of driving, and has been accident free since 1991.

Driver of the Month for September was Joe Rieschl, another driver with Trans X, who has logged 1,900,000 km in his 15 years as a professional driver, with no preventable accidents since 1995.

MTA has awarded Driver of the Month since 1991. The event is sponsored by Custom Truck Sales Inc. and Canadian Kenworth. The awards were presented by Jim Clark of Custom Truck Sales Inc., MTA President Vic Switzer of Portage Cartage and Storage, and Mark Conrad of Transport Canada.
