MTA paints a picture for ministry

WINNIPEG — The Manitoba Trucking Association gave the province’s transport minister Steve Ashton an early Christmas present.

The association commissioned local artist Glenn Hayes to paint a commemorative piece that pays homage to the roots of trucking in Manitoba.

Driven to Succeed

The painting, titled Driven to Succeed, was presented to Hayes at his office by MTA President Tom Payne Jr. and other members of the MTA Board

It depicts elements of the industry from the past and looking forward to the future; capturing how Manitoba is the gateway between eastern and western Canada.

"(The painting) will serve as a reminder of the economic role trucking plays in our province and we are pleased to have the Minister accept it as a keepsake in his office," said Payne Jr.

Artist Glenn Hayes was born in Winnipeg and he has used that background for much of his inspiration.
