MTA to host provincial driving championships May 29

WINNIPEG, Man. — Manitoba’s Professional Truck Driving Championships will take place next weekend with 58 competitors taking part in six classes of competition.

The annual event will determine who will travel to Lethbridge, Alta. later this year to represent their province.

The provincial championships will be held May 29 at 8 a.m. at the Red River Exhibition Park in Winnipeg. Dozens if 18-wheelers will make their way through a challenging course and perform a number of different maneuvers to determine the best of the best.

Some of the awards being presented include: a team award; the Grand Champion award; and the Rookie of the Year award. The event, hosted by the Manitoba Trucking Association will be followed by an awards banquet at the Clarion Hotel at 7 p.m.
