MTA to host truck driving championships, awards dinner June 28

WINNIPEG, Man. — The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) is hosting its annual professional truck driving championships and a driver awards banquet on June 28.

The driving championships will be held at Red River Exhibition Park in Winnipeg. Drivers will compete in six different categories, with the winners advancing to the national championships in Ottawa in September.

The competition begins at 8 a.m. and continues until 4:30 p.m. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

That evening, the MTA will honour some of the province’s top drivers at its Drivers Awards Dinner. Awards will be presented to: the 2008 Manitoba Driver of the Year; the J.O. Dutton Memorial Award; and winners of the professional driving championships.
