LUNENBURG, N.S. — A popular tourist destination in Nova Scotia is receiving an upgrade to its road.

A road near Blue Rocks, in Lunenburg County, will receive some needed work this summer. About 5.4 kilometres of Heckmans Island Road, from Blue Rocks Road at Blue Rocks to the end of the road, will be double chip sealed.

“A strong road and bridge network is vital to economic and social prosperity in our communities,” said Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. “It also improves public safety, and is needed in our communities.”

The work was awarded to Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. Value of the contract is about $638,000. It is to be completed by Aug. 31.
