TORONTO (May 7, 2003) – Ed Roeder’s wrench-handling skills were officially recognized today, as the Muir’s Cartage fleet manager was given the 2003 Volvo Trucks Canada Fleet Maintenance Manager of the Year award.

The award, which was handed out at the finale of the 40th annual Canadian Fleet Maintenance Seminar in Toronto, recognizes an outstanding Canadian fleet maintenance manager who has also demonstrated excellence in training, innovation, leadership, and overall contribution to the trucking industry.

Roeder, a 20-year industry veteran, manages the maintenance program for almost 1000 pieces of Muir’s equipment. He also designed and oversees Muir’s fully-equipped, multi-bay service facility at the company’s Concord, Ont. headquarters. The facility has become the model for new facilities in the government and education sectors, the company says. Using a run-sheet integrated maintenance-tracking program, a 24-hour team of specialists keep down-time to a minimum, and have their own fleet of mobile service vehicles to quickly take care of the unexpected.
