FREDERICTON, N.B. — Spring weight restrictions are scheduled to take effect on New Brunswick highways at midnight on March 5, the province has announced.

However, truckers on northern New Brunswick highways will have until midnight March 12 before they must comply with the spring weight restrictions.

The provinces says the spring weights will be enforced until midnight, May 21. The dates are dependent on weather, however, and can change.

The Department of Transportation says trucking companies should refer to local newspapers to verify the current weight allowances. The listings will also be available at www.gnb.ca, keyword: Transportation.
