Teleflex Canada
B.C.-based Teleflex Canada has introduced the Proheat Gen 4, a new generation of its auxiliary power and climate control systems for the commercial vehicle market.

The Gen 4 offers air conditioning and heating for total climate control in a truck’s sleeper; 4000 watts of 115V household power for any on-board appliance; 40 amps of truck battery charging; and engine preheating for cold weather starts. The company says the generator, mounted between the fuel tank and rear wheels and fits inside all fairings, will help trucks reduce fuel and extend engine life by burning 80 per cent less fuel at idle.

Features include: waterproof electrical connections for harsh conditions; oil, air, and fuel filter service points are located for direct access; self diagnostics with indicator lights; large capacity filters extend service intervals to coincide with regular truck servicing; and precision mounted generator linkage which enables correct belt tensioning for longer life.

Moreover, a compact illuminated touch pad control panel allows the driver to control the environment as well as the auxiliary power unit (APU) from inside the cab. A split air conditioner system with condenser mounted independently of the APU helps avoid degradation from the road and engine heating. Also two removable panels allow for easier access to components, while snap-on connectors provide quick installation.
