New bridge to cross Petite Riviere

PETITE RIVIERE, N.S. — The Petite Riviere Bridge is being replaced and Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works, expects a new panel bridge to be installed by March 2003.

This past fall saw the bridge struck and knocked into the river by a commercial truck last month, and in September a pick-up truck ran into the one-lane bridge and damaged the guard rails. Both drivers were unscathed.

“This is good news for motorists along Route 331,” says Russell. “It’s also important to the surrounding communities.”

For now, a detour is available by taking Wentzell or Petite Riviere roads.
