New digs on the way for Alberta association

CALGARY — The ground has been broken and the Alberta Motor Transport Association is hoping to move into a brand new facility in November 2009.

Construction officially began back in April, and the association’s new “Center of Excellence” in Calgary will be located at 61 Avenue and Wrangler Way S.E. It’s an address close to many carriers and right in the heart of an industrial park.

The 13,000 sq ft building, will not only include offices and classrooms, but will also have a drive-in bay to accommodate a tractor-trailer unit to enhance hands-on training for vehicles, equipment and cargo.

Equipped for web-based conferencing and online learning, the state-of-the-art training center was conceived for serving the transportation industry now and in the future, says the AMTA.
