New fall-protection system from Carbis
Carbis Inc.
Carbis, Inc., a leading provider of bulk loading and safe access solutions, announces the availability of its new Flatbed Fall-Protection Systems for increased safety while loading flatbed trucks. The solutions are a combination of various existing and brand new elements such as: truck-length, dock-high platforms, overhead tarping systems, and lifelines that secure a worker into a body harness, to blend and select the correct combination of features to fit the specific needs of any customer.
The Carbis Fall-Protection System includes a platform when indicated. Specified in aluminum, prime-coated steel or galvanized steel, this platform parallels a truck to allow a worker to safely secure a load along the entire length of the bed. Standard lengths of 48 feet or more, flatbed heights of 45 inches and a gangway width of 24 inches are offered. All dimensions can be modified to meet a wide range of truck bed sizes,
Further protective elements of the system include a ground-operated tarping mechanism, which conveniently applies heavy tarps over bulk loads without endangering the worker, the company says. Manufactured with primed or galvanized steel, the system incorporates at least two “L” frame supports and an overhead beam that extends up to 45 feet or more. A trolley runs the entire length of the beam and incorporates a spreader bar to ease the tarp over loads reaching to clearances of over 13.5 feet. An optional motorized trolley is rated for loads up to 1/4 ton. or beyond. Push-button control allows it to lift and pull a tarp at the rate of 35 feet per minute – faster if necessary.
The incorporation of additional solutions such as gangways, ladders, workstands and safety enclosures are offered for any truck loading or unloading application, the company says.
