A new high-efficiency cooling system specifically designed for optimum performance with 2002 exhaust recirculation engines, has been introduced by Peterbilt at the Mid-America Trucking Show.

The cooling system features a modular vertical design that helps improve cooling efficiency by up to 35% versus today’s “stacked” cooling systems, and reduces weight by p to 80 pounds, the company says.

The design saves space by mounting the charge air cooler on top of the radiator, and prevents air from being pre-heated by the charge air cooler before it passes through the radiator. In addition, the system has all-aluminum radiator core, improving durability and reducing weight, the company said.

The system is also said to be easier to service because the charge air cooler can be accessed and removed without having to drain the radiator or disturb the HVAC system.
