New sleeper added to International 5000; Cat ACERT option available too
WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Mar. 18, 2005) — International Truck and Engine has announced new product line enhancements to the International 5000 Series trucks in 2005.
The International 5900i will now feature a sleeper cab option for drivers to have extra cab room for rest periods. The spacious cab offers 58 inches of floor-to-ceiling height, 70 inches of shoulder room and 18 inches of belly room. The 5900i also features a large wraparound windshield and an optional larger rear window for increased job site visibility.
An ergonomic wood grain dashboard and wing panel makes switches easy to see and reach. Interiors feature standard ivory-faced gauges and an optional leather-wrapped wood grain steering wheel.
The 5900i offers a purpose-built severe service 12.25-inch frame system with one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios in the industry — allowing a single rail to do the work of many double frames. An optional 10.88-inch single frame rail is available for on/off-highway tractors and transfer dumps.
Cat ACERT engines will also be available in International 5000 Series trucks for 2005. ACERT technology uses a unique systems approach to reduce emissions to meet the 2004 EPA standard while retaining reliability, durability and maintenance requirements expected of CAT engines. And while ACERT technology relies on a combination of advanced combustion technology, air-handling systems, engine electronics and fuel injection, the components that make up the system are proven performers.
