New Smokemeter eases emissions compliance

QTC’s new Diesel Diagnostics 5mokemeter permits accurate compliance testing of diesel engines in heavy- and light-duty trucks, buses, recreational vehicles, vans, and cars. Compliance testing ensures that vehicles will pass random roadside tests, eliminating possible fines or delays.

The unit reads black, white, or blue smoke produced at the stack. In testing, there is no need to touch the stack as a unique SmokeStick is “dropped” into it, permitting all-weather use, and the test is not affected by ambient light or moisture.

The No.550-120 Interstate Diesel Platform version includes the SmokeHead, digital interface box, laptop computer, laser printer, stand, and testing accessory kit. Also available is the No.550-121 Smokemeter Basic 5et, which is designed for use by existing emissions inspecting and repair stations, and can be added to any Windows ’98 based personal computer. Optional testing accessories include a magnetic tach kit, oil temperature kit, and optical tach kit.
