VIRGINIA WATERS, Nfld. — Traffic congestion here will be lessened now that Newfoundland motorists can travel another portion of the outer ring road.
The road was opened recently as announced by Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, Percy Barrett and Walter Noel, the MHA of Virginia Waters.
The recent road opening will help with traffic problems that often have the intersection of Torbay Road and Stavanger Drive backed up.
The 20km project has alleviated much of the bottlenecking as a result of commercial and residential development in the area, and is expected to smooth out transportation issues even more when completed in 2003.
When all is said and done, the Outer Ring will venture cost $68.2 million, and will provide motorists with a more direct route to the east end of St. John’s via divided highway and more convenient access to the provincial highway network for those in communities north of the city.
