NEXIQ gives trailer diagnostics a brake
NEXIQ Technologies
Meritor WABCO trailer brake diagnostics are now supported by the recently introduced Brake-Link handheld tool from NEXIQ Technologies. It will allow trailer mechanics to diagnose brake faults on trailers with Easy-Stop and Enhanced Easy-Stop brakes.
The ABS brake-scan tool eliminates the need for monitoring of blink codes by displaying text messages, and simplifies and expedites the troubleshooting process by providing more diagnostic information than blink codes.
Trailer technicians can also use Brake-Link to view and clear current and historic faults. The tool connects to tractors and trailers using the SAE J1587 communication protocol over J1708 buses, and is compatible with the latest Power Line Carrier (PLC) communication protocol, which supports the mandate for an in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp. Technicians can test a range of functions with the tool, including battery voltage, the trailer’s ABS warning lamp, wheelsensors, chuffing, holding and exhaustion modulators, and retrieval of ECU information.
Brake-Link can also be used as a PC-to-vehicle serial interface device for use with most OEM and NEXIQ diagnostic PC applications.
