LAKE COUNTRY, B.C. — After the third fatality in the last few months on Hwy. 97 in the Kelowna area, the B.C. government is being urged to upgrade the deadly highway.

Lake Country Mayor, Rolly Hein, says the government has been irresponsible by ignoring the highway while spending all its energy looking for solutions for the Sea-to-Sky Hwy. instead.

Hein lashed out at the provincial government this week after being told there isn’t enough money to upgrade Hwy. 97 despite the rash of recent deaths. He says leaving the highway as it is now is a death trap that will cost lives.
