Northern B.C. weigh scales open

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – After a few delays, new truck weigh scales in Red Rock, B.C. are officially open.

To better monitor the increasing truck traffic coming in and out of Prince George, the B.C. Ministry of Transportation constructed the Red Rock Inspection Stations on Hwy. 97 south of Prince George.

The scales , which have been running under a pilot program for the last few months, use ‘weigh-in-motion’ technology.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minster Shirley Bond says this is another important milestone in completion of work along the Cariboo Connector.

"We’ve put in place the latest technology to ensure truck traffic flows as efficiently as possible along the route, and we’ve also made safety improvements to the highway that will benefit commercial traffic and the residents of Red Rock and area."
