NWT to get first its Western Star dealership
YELLOWKNIFE, (Mar. 14, 2005) — Western Star Trucks is heading up north — way up north.
Trucks won’t start rolling in until May, but staff at Northern Metalic Sales in Yellowknife are looking forward to being the first Western Star Trucks dealership in the NWT.
The company — which also operates a Freightliner, Sterling, and Western Star sales facility at its Whitehorse, Yukon headquarters — has been working with the DaimlerChrysler-owned truckmaker for almost two years on getting a dealership to the diamond capital.
Northern Metalic’s manager Rob Sasseville told the Yellowknifer newspaper that there’s strong demand for such a dealership. “All these trucking companies have no place to go to have their trucks fixed if they happen to break down,” he said.
The dealer is currently marshalling winter road product on its lot to make room for the in-coming commercial tractors.
