WELLAND, Ont. — The Owner-Operator’s Business Association of Canada (OBAC) is offering free membership to owner/operators who were members of the now-defunct COM-CAR Owner Operators Association.

OBAC says its offering a free one-year membership deal to former COM-CAR members as a tribute to that group’s founder, Art Joosse and his efforts for O/Os over 27 years, “in order to continue providing Canada’s owner/operators the best in business education and advocacy.”

“Current COM-CAR members are invited to join OBAC in representing the owner/operator’s interests in policy and regulatory discussions with all levels of government, and to keep the momentum going,” OBC says in a news release.

COM-CAR, which for 27 years was considered the leading voice for O/Os in Canada, shut its doors Jan. 24 because Joanne Joosse, the widow of Art Joosse, could no longer keep the Association going.

OBAC’s invitation for former COM-CAR members to join the new association free for a year, is open until April 30.

All that’s required is showing proof of a valid COM-CAR membership. Call 888 794-9990, or e-mail OBAC at info@obac.ca.
