Ontario carrier establishes new driver opportunity

SIMCOE, Ont. — Bruce R. Smith Limited has created the Learn To Earn Scholarship in an effort to sponsor an individual in Ontario looking to start a career as a commercial tractor trailer driver.

“This scholarship is another way we can recruit and retain quality people into our industry,” commented John H. Smith, president and CEO of Bruce R. Smith.

Bruce R. Smith will be sponsoring the full tuition of the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) Certified Course that is offered at Fanshawe College in Simcoe, Ont. with training partner KRTS Transportation Specialists.

“The Learn To Earn Scholarship demonstrates an unconventional way for a carrier to recruit the best entry level drivers,” said Kim Richardson, president of KRTS. “We look forward to certifying the chosen candidate and helping them launch a successful career with Bruce R. Smith Limited who is a leader in the community and trucking industry.”

To apply for the Learn To Earn Scholarship a candidate must be a minimum of 21 years of age and meet all Scholarship criteria.
