Ontario Driver Wins Rookie of the Year, Grand Champion at Nationals

LANGLEY, B.C. — Home Hardware driver Rob Marshall is bringing back two titles to Ontario after this past weekend’s National Professional Truck Driving Championships.

It was Marshall’s first time at the Nationals, and a charming one at that. Competing in the Straight Truck division and scoring 430 points out of a possible 500, he netted both Grand Champion and Rookie of the Year.

Manitoba took home the Team Trophy, while BC drivers John Broker out of Port Coquitlam placed first third in Tandem-Tandem and Jose Lecinana from Sooke took third in the Single-Single division.

Awards were handed out at a banquet at the Ramada Plaza Abbotsford Hotel & Convention Centre followed the competition. Shaun Garvey, Organizing Committee Chair, ICBC, and Gary Ryder, Chief Judge, Chevron Canada Ltd., presented the awards to the winners, and Tammy Clifford, Zurich Canada, handed out trophies.
